Are You Closer to Loving Your Voice?
Celebrating one year of women learning to speak with courage and heart.
Hello Savvy Speaker,
It’s been one year since I published The Love Your Voice Public Speaking Workbook for Women in Midlife!
Wow, what a year it’s been.
In our divided world, I believe that open communication is the key to starting the healing process, both within ourselves and with one another.
Here’s what I’ve found since publishing my workbook:
Healing is Essential: For the first step in becoming a powerful speaker, I recommend that my private clients and workshop participants use my workbook as a healing resource. We can’t communicate confidently until we heal our voice scars. The workbook gently guides you through a process that allows you to explore, accept, and, dare I say, love your voice so you can speak your mind freely.
It’s Not Your Fault: Early in the book, I include a worksheet listing challenges women face to remind us that it’s not our fault we aren’t fully seen and heard at work and at home. This has been very helpful for clients in letting go of the blame they feel for struggling with public speaking. Take a quick look at page 8 of the workbook to circle the hurdles you face:
3. We need to speak up now more than ever: Our free speech is under attack. Speakers, educators, students, authors, journalists, and even comedians are being censored in the United States. Others are being disappeared.
That’s why women, along with other marginalized groups, need to raise their voices despite efforts to silence us. We can also advocate for those around us who lack a voice. We never know who we might help until we speak our truth.
This was an empowering workbook that helped me understand why I’ve been keeping my voice small. This revelation was transformative for me.
