“Silent All These Years”, the gorgeous song by Tori Amos, resonates with my journey to speak up and be heard. I recall the achy lump in my throat when I wanted to speak but no words came out.
“Stop that”, “I don’t like that” or simply “No” felt near impossible to say as a young woman. Too many of us feel muted when we try to communicate at different life stages.
I have finally reclaimed my voice in mid-life and it’s what motivates me every day to say the damn thing.
I want us all to say the damn thing.
Now with my podcast, improv group, and Substack, I am speaking up, however flawed or imperfect I may sound. I want us all to have an outlet where we can speak out as our full selves.
