You have so much to say but don’t always feel able to speak freely. Why? 

Patriarchy ✔️

Misogyny ✔️ 

Racism ✔️

Past wounds ✔️

Health Issues ✔️

There is something else I’d like to explore with you. A lurking fear and shame that feels like a burden and is not truly ours to carry.

Let’s call this burden our “vocal baggage.”

This vocal baggage is full of funky beliefs and experiences that weigh us down from speaking freely.

Vocal baggage manifests in our bodies, daily habits, and communication styles.

Let’s unpack some key habits to see what helps or hinders us from achieving our communication goals:

Hindering Vocal Habits that you may be doing:

  • Do you avoid speaking at meetings?

  • Do you dread giving a work presentation?

  • Do you avoid direct communication or conflict?

  • Do you second guess your choice of words in a conversation at a party or on a date?

  • Do you feel hoarse after a night out?

  • Do you sleep enough and drink enough water?

  • Do you have a negative internal voice …
