Graduations: The Bittersweet Truth

A conversation about my son graduating, letting go, and limbo

My son graduated from high school recently, and he’s headed to UC San Diego in the Fall!

As a UCLA graduate, I am beyond proud of him, and I can’t wait for him to enjoy the college experience. The fun he’ll have inside and outside of the classroom will be enriching and formative. I’m thrilled for him.

I’m also a moody mess.

Our whole world will shift with him gone. Our orbit will change. I don’t know what it will look like. I don’t quite know who I am anymore.

In our emotional chat, my dear friend, Flesché , and I discuss the bittersweet reality of graduation. Her sons have also been promoted, and she gets beautifully vulnerable about how that makes her feel.

You can have a listen to our talk above, and you can hear more conversations on our podcast substack Girlfriends of a Certain Age

Do you have a recent grad in your life?

How is it making you feel?

Stay Calm & Feel On,
